Isle of Man Road Safety Unit

The Department of Transport’s Road Safety Unit promotes causality reduction all year round but during TT and MGP it highlights the need to take extra care due to the increases in the amount of traffic and visitors. The images selected have been designed to reflect nostalgia of motorcycle racing on the Isle of Man

Our TT road safety campaign is designed to remind everyone of the extra care needed during TT by advising riders and motorists to ride or drive well within their capabilities. It is pleasing to note that the TT 2006 Take iTT Easy campaign played its part in a fatal free 2006 TT festival.

The Road Safety Unit continues to promote safer road use on the Island through educational programmes and integrated marketing campaigns including, the high profile Christmas anti drink drive, safer drivers think of others, Vulnerable Road Users, and In-car Safety campaigns.

The Road Safety Unit promotions vehicle will be touring the Island during TT 2008 promoting the Ride Safe campaign.

For further information on the the work of the team please see the Road Safety section on the DOT Highways website.

Car Seats for Children

Please be aware that on the 1st July 2007 legislation was introduced to the Isle of Man that requires every child to travel in the appropriate child restraint until they reach either 135cm (4ft 5”) in height or 12 years of age. For further details read the "Sit Safe, child safe" leaflet (PDF 1Mb).
