Tynwald Stalls 2012
Background
The Tynwald Fair field has approximately 140 plots for the stalls at the rear of Tynwald hill. The stalls are free of charge and each plot measures 10ft x 10ft. The stall holder is responsible for erecting their own stall and providing their own Gazebo, Tables etc. All stalls must be erected within the perimeter of the allocated plot.
Allocation of Plots
Manx Registered Charities
The allocation of stalls is carried out in two sections. Manx Registered Charities are given priority, application forms will automatically be sent to Charities who had a plot 2011. Any new Charities can apply for an application by contacting Tina Kelly 687561 or tina.kelly@gov.im. The forms for the Charities will be available from 10th April 2012 with applications closing on 30th April 2012.
All Manx Charities registered under the Charities Registrations Act 1989 are allocated a plot on the condition they submit their application form within the relevant deadline.
Traders
Traders will then be invited to apply for the remaining stalls, application forms will be available from 1st May 2012 closing 18th May 2012. Traders on the mailing list will have their application forms sent out week commencing 1st May 2012. Any new traders can apply to go on the mailing list by contacting Tina Kelly 687561 or tina.kelly@gov.im.
An advert will be placed in the Local Press during week commencing 2nd April 2012 inviting Charities and Traders to be included in the mailing list for application forms.
The allocation of the plots will be completed week commencing 21st May. Demand always exceeds the number of plots available and there is likely to be a few people disappointed.
Applicants will be notified by letter of the outcome of their application, unsuccessful applicants will be asked if they wish to go on a waiting list for any cancelled plots in 2012.
Licence Conditions
- Stalls may be erected at any time from 7.00am on the day before the specified date to 9.00 am on the Fair Day and must be dismantled and removed by 10.00pm on the Fair Day.
- No vehicles are permitted on the field except for the dismantling of stalls and during delivery of goods. The field must be kept clear of all vehicles from 9 am to 5 pm on the Fair Day.
- The Department reserves the right to prohibit the entry of all vehicles onto the Field if ground, or some other conditions, make this desirable.
- The Department provides only the space on the Field. It is the responsibility of the stall holder to provide the stall(s) and any equipment needed. No responsibility for the stall(s) or the goods thereon is accepted by the Department.
- The stall must be erected so that it causes no damage to the surface of the field and should be kept within the boundary of the allocated plot. You must ensure that there are no trip hazards outside of your allocated plot and that any fixtures to tents or gazebos must be safe and secure.
- The nature of the business to be transacted at the stall must be such that it does not interfere with the Tynwald Ceremony, does not contravene the law of the Isle of Man, and does not cause a nuisance to others attending the Ceremony or the Fair.
- Second hand goods sold on the stalls must be in good clean condition The Department representative can ask the stall holders to remove any items that are offered for sale that are not an acceptable quality and condition. The sale of second hand clothes is no longer permitted to be sold on the Fairfield.
- All litter must be cleared from the Fairfield by the stall holders. Failure to clear the litter will result in the stall holders not being offered a plot in subsequent years.
