Mapping for Academic Purposes
The Isle of Man Government provides mapping for academic projects via the UK based Eduserv organisation and suitable research or teaching activities will benefit from a free licence to utilise Isle of Man spatial data.
UK and Irish academic institutions wishing to perform research on the Island should contact:
Telephone: 01225 470 523
Fax: 01225 474 301
Eduserv acts as a focal point for the supply of software, data, information, training materials and other IT related products to educational institutions in the UK and abroad. It is a not-for-profit organisation acting on behalf of UK and Ireland Higher and Further Education and the Public Sector.
All requests regarding data for academic purposes should be directed through this channel. Your academic institution may already have an Eduserv coordinator on hand to advise you.
We are pleased to offer a number of maps which may be downloaded free of charge. The primary resource thematic maps were created for the Island’s schools and may be of interest to primary schools outside the Isle of Man.
All maps are owned by the Isle of Man Government and fall under the Copyright Act 1991 (of Tynwald). They may be used freely for personal or academic purposes but there may be restrictions on web, business and commercial use so please contact the mapping office to discuss your requirements.
You will need Adobe Acrobat to download documents that are PDFs, this is available free by following this link:
