Dont Use Your Phone When Driving

Mobile Phones

Using a hand held phone while driving in the Isle of Man is illegal. You could be fined up to £2500 + 4 penalty points on your driving licence. Many drivers have already been prosecuted for this offence.

When drivers use a hand held mobile phone, they must remove one hand from the steering wheel to hold and operate the phone. They must also take their eyes of the road to pick up and put down the phone and to dial numbers. Whilst the driver is using the hand held phone he must continue to operate the vehicle, (steer, change gear and use indicators) all with one hand. Using a hand held phone whilst driving distracts your attention away from the road and this could lead to an accident.

This legislation has been introduced in the Isle of Man as a major Road Safety Measure.
