MotorhomesLarge Vehicles Parked in Residential Areas

There are currently 736 motorhomes registered and licensed for use on the Islands roads and the Department regularly receives complaints about the inappropriateness of permitting them to park on residential roads for long periods of time, about the overall size of the vehicles and the amount of space they occupy on the road. The problems also extend to large vans that are kept in residential areas.

The Department of Infrastructure is seeking the public’s views on legislative proposals contained within the Road Traffic and Highways (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill. The provisions contained within the Bill have been developed from proposals which were included in the Department's Road Safety Initiative of 2004 that received a broadly favourable public response.

Tynwald Select Committee into the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Recommendation to establish a Travel Consultative GroupDraft Terms of Reference Travel Consultative Group

At the June 2007 sitting of Tynwald it was resolved that a Select Committee be established to examine various issues with respect to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company. The Committee reported in November 2008 and amongst the recommendations approved by Tynwald was that the Department of Transport (now the Department of Infrastructure) establishes a consultative group to which members of the public may refer all matters of travel and complaint. The draft Terms of Reference (attached below) for the recommended consultative group were approved by the Department of Transport and following Government restructuring also by the Department of Infrastructure.
