Tourism Awards 2008

Both visitors and residents alike are welcome to nominate a tourism business, organisation or individual for a special award for outstanding quality or service. Just choose the category and and tell us about your experience. Submit your nomination by filling out the online form, and enter our prize draw to win a holiday to the Isle of Man

Category Descriptions

  • Accommodation of the year - this category is for all registered Isle of Man Tourist Accommodation. We would like to hear about excellence in service or quality surroundings in Hotels, Guest Accommodation, such as Bed & Breakfast, Farmhouses and Inns, Self Catering properties and Serviced Apartments.
  • Attraction of the year - this section of the Isle of Man Tourism Awards 2008 is open for nominations for any visitor attractions such as museums, nature reserves, farms, activity centres and similar venues.
  • Event of the year - the award in this section is for a tourist event taking place on the Isle of Man that is for outstanding for participants, spectators or both.
  • Restaurant of the year - This award is aimed at any Isle of Man restaurant or food outlet that has provided top quality service in a friendly environment. The judges are particularly keen to hear about innovative use of local produce in their menus.
  • Best customer service - this award is to recognise outstanding customer service from any sector in the Isle of Man hospitality industry. It is designed to reward exceptional standards of customer care and to promote these success stories as examples to the industry.
  • Best Railway - this award is open to all railway providers on the Isle of Man who provide an innovative customer experience.
  • Best town or village - this award is open to any town or villiage that can demonstrate they go the extra mile to consistently provide a unique and memorable experience to both tourists and residents.
  • Taxi driver of the year - this award is open to all registered taxi drivers who extend a warm welcome and make an extraordinary effort to provide more than is expected to tourists as they travel around the Isle of Man.
  • Best night out - this award is open to any vistor experience that they consider to be one of the best. It could be a fantastic performance at the Gaiety Theatre, a unique dining experience at one of our many restaruants, a local pub with entertainment or any other experience the vistor would like to share with us.
  • Best cultural experience - whats your idea of a real Isle of Man cultural experience? This could be learning about our Manx culture from ancient viking burial grounds and medieval castles, watching basking sharks and grey seals, sampling our local food produce, manx dancing or some other quirky experience you would like to tell us about
  • Best coastal experience - we would like to hear from visitors or local residents who have enjoyed an outstanding experience by the coast. It could be jumping in at the deep end and trying our kayaking, coasteering, sailing, or relaxing on one of our sandy beaches, or a particular walk with breathtaking scenery.
  • Area of most scenic natural beauty - the Isle of Man has some outstanding areas of natural beauty. This experience could include secluded glens, mountain biking trails, guided walks, countryside heritage assets, staying on a working farm or visiting the Calf of Man.

Terms & Conditions: 1. Closing date for entries is noon 31st October 2008 2. No purchase necessary 3. The prize is a 3-night holiday to the Isle of Man for two adults to be taken before 30th September 2009, subject to availability. 4.
