Hockey & Badminton Development Officer

My name is Dominic Hobdell and I am the Badminton & Hockey Development Officer for the Isle of Man. I started this role in August 2006 and am currently on a 3 year contract until August 2009, after which it is hoped further funding will be available to continue.
Hockey
Hockey has achieved many successes over the past 2 years, including:
- Running the first England Hockey Level 2 award on the Island in September 2006 - qualifying 3 new Level 2 Coaches to date, with 10 more to qualify in the future.
- Qualifying 32 new Level 1 Coaches on the Island
- Running the first Young Leaders award on Island, qualifying 31 new young leaders
- Commencing junior leagues at under 11 and under 13 level
- Establishing a junior committee
- Participation in North of England Mini-Hockey championships at under 13 level
- Launching a new Hockey Club in the South of the Island
- Running an England Hockey approved workshop
Below are my targets for 2007, how I performed against them and my new targets for 2008/2009:

Badminton
Badminton has also developed well from August 2006 to April 2008. A summary of our success can be found below:
- Qualifying 8 new Level 1 Coaches under the new UKCC system
- Qualifying 6 new Level 2 Coaches under the new UKCC system
- Qualifying 6 Junior Helper Award Tutors
- Running the first Junior Helpers Award course, qualifying 5 Junior Helpers
- Establishing 3 New Junior Clubs
- Supporting Fencibles to be the first Badminton Club on the Island to achieve Club Accreditation
- Beginning Badminton Sessions for those with additional needs
- Running Coach Education workshops
