Parental Feedback received regarding our Holiday Programmes - FEEDBACK 2010-11
During the last 18 months the SDU has been taking notice of all the feedback that you the parents have been giving to us. We have looked at all the areas you have suggested and wherever possible we have instigated the action points. Any actions that we have not yet acted upon will be looked at in the future along with anything new that we receive via feedback from our valued customers.
The feedback we receive is always of value to us and it is pleasing to note the majority of feedback is positive, giving us an excellent rating with no changes required.
The feedback we action is taken from various sources and when we note a trend that a number of customers request we look to see how they can be acted upon. With this in mind some of the good ideas and changes have come from one person making a good suggestion. So please keep sending in your feedback to us, we note everything that is submitted.

| The standard of coaching needs to be more unified. | We run a continuous programme of Coach Education through staff training days. We also do regular individual progress assessments on all of the coaches and give them feedback to maintain our high standards. All of our Coaches have access to the highest standard of Sports Coaching Mentors on the Island and they can use this to help them improve as Coaches. We have been assessed by Quest, the Sports Industries quality assessment agency, and they have placed the Sports Development Unit’s Coaching Standards as being one of the top units in the U.K. |
| Earlier start times or as school/work times. | We are at present trying different start and finishing times to see, what is the best combination, for the participants and the staff. |
| More regional activities. | At present there is a wider range and more frequent regional programme than ever before. This is regularly reviewed to make sure we offer the best service possible. |
| More activities for reception – year 2 children. | We run a wide range of multi-skill based sessions designed to improve the overall skills and coordination of those taking part. We also have a good range of sport specific sessions that we are always looking to update and develop, but there are only a certain amount of sports that we can facilitate, due to facilities and Coaching expertise. |
| Online booking and payment. | At the moment we have no access to Online booking facilities. This is being reviewed by central Government and the restructure of Government will include a “Customer First” project that is looking at putting all online facilities throughout Government on the same level, which will allow all customer services to have access to the online services. |
| More activities for year 7 children. | Due to the low number of attendee’s for the year 7+ schemes that have previously been run, it is difficult to run a meaningful coaching session. We are still looking at ways to establish more Children in this age group. We are actively encouraging as many children as possible to let us know what they would like to take part in and how they want it to operate. We have some schemes that have made progress, the year 7 to year 10 Gym sessions are proving very popular and we are looking at ways to develop other activities in a similar way. |
| Change/rotate the activities on a regular basis. | We started some new schemes over the summer that proved to be successful; these included Outdoor Pursuits; Dodge Ball; Gymnastics and BMX. At present we are looking at several new activities that could possibly be included in our schemes in the future and we are constantly reviewing all of the activities that we run. |
