The Isle of Man Sawmill
At the Isle of Man Sawmill, we are proud to be able to process sustainably grown timber on the Forestry Directorate's 7000 acre forestry estate, and to produce a wide range of products to meet the needs of our customers.
A major modernisation programme involving introduction of new integrated sawmilling equipment has been implemented, equipping the mill for the future with greatly-increased output capacity and improved quality of product.
The Sawmill produces a wide range of home-grown timber products including agricultural fencing posts, boards and rails, firewood plus a range of high quality joinery products. Our timber preserving pressure treatment process ensures increased longevity of our products.
The Sawmill is keenly involved in the government's initiatives to encourage use of renewable fuel. The Sawmill itself, and the nearby DEFA Headquarters are both heated using woodchip fuel and this resource is being increasingly utilised as more government developments, including new schools and sheltered housing complexes, become equipped to use this renewable locally-sourced fuel resource.
