Everybody’s favourite northern comedian, Jason Manford, is returning to the Villa with his brand new tour for 2013. The show promises to feature a wealth of comedy anecdotes, comic misunderstandings and audience banter delivered with Jason’s likeable charm and teasingly intelligent wit.

Jason has had a busy time since he was last on the road. After his opera singing turn saw him emerge the winner on Born To Shine (ITV1) Jason put his new found talent into practice joining Alfie Boe on tour prior to a well-received run in the West-End hit musical Sweeney Todd. However, his comedy bones weren’t completely idle as he enjoyed appearances on QI (BBC Two), Big Fat Quiz of the Year (Channel 4), and Comedy World Cup (Channel 4).

Jason said: “Some of you might think I’ve had a career change what with all the opera and musical theatre I’ve been doing lately. Not a chance, I’m excited to be getting back to what I really love the most – stand up!”

Stand up sets on ‘Live at the Apollo’ (BBC One), ‘Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow’ (BBC One) and ‘The Royal Variety Performance’ (ITV1, 2009) have all helped establish Jason as a nationally known comic, a position which made him the ideal host of ITV’s reality comedy competition, Show Me the Funny. A second series of his hilarious creation ‘Walk on the Wild Side’ (BBC One) aired in 2010, and Jason has hosted ‘Comedy Rocks with Jason Manford’ (ITV1) and been a regular panelist on two series of ‘Odd One In’ (ITV1).

“Effortlessly entertaining” – Evening Standard

“He's blessed with the sort of laid-back charm and sharp turn of phrase you can't manufacture” – Daily Telegraph

“Manford retains an affably jovial demeanour that makes him warmly enjoyable company.” – Chortle

 About the Show

Explorer and Mount Everest conqueror Sir Ranulph Fiennes is one of the world's top inspirational business motivational speakers and has thrilled audiences everywhere with his superbly illustrated and highly motivating talks and presentations. Sir Ranulph will appear as guest of The Sporting & Dining Club in the Royal Hall, Villa Marina for one night only on Thursday 26 June 2014.

In 1984 the Guinness Book of Records described Sir Ranulph Fiennes as the “World’s Greatest Living Explorer”. His inspiring message is relevant to anyone - male, female, young or old. Fiennes’ entertaining and inspiring presentations are adapted not only to suit each audience or conference theme but also to keep up with his latest expeditions.

His exploits have seen Sir Ranulph travel up the White Nile in a hovercraft; parachuting onto Europe’s highest glacier; forcing his way up 4,000 miles of the mightiest rivers of Canada and Alaska; trekking on foot and unsupported to the North Pole and the great Transglobe expedition in which Fiennes and his companion Charles Burton became the first men in history to reach both Poles.

As a measure of his abilities, Sir Ranulph was selected by IBM New York as their chief motivational speaker out of 700 top international speakers. He spoke at 65 major conferences worldwide.

The Coldest Journey: The Trans-Antarctic Winter Expedition

Sir Ranulph’ s presentation on 26 June 2014, will centre on The Coldest Journey: The Trans- Antarctic Winter Expedition, during which the team hopes to achieve a number of goals;

On 6th December, the SA Agulhas will set off from London on what will be the start of the world's first ever attempt to cross the Antarctic in winter.
The 2000-mile journey across the continent has for many years been considered too perilous to try and the expedition's six-man "Ice Team" - led by Sir Ranulph Fiennes - will have to overcome one of earth's most hostile environments if they are to succeed, exposing themselves to temperatures dropping close to -90c and operating in near permanent darkness.
A winter traverse of the Antarctic is widely regarded as the last true remaining polar challenge and the expedition's success will reassert Britain's status as the world's greatest nation of explorers.
A fund-raising initiative will run side-by-side with the expedition with the aim of raising $10m for Seeing is Believing to help fight blindness around the world.
Having never been attempted, the expedition will also provide unique and invaluable scientific research that will help climatologists, as well as forming the basis for an education programme that will reach up to 100,000 schools across the Commonwealth.
Sir Ranulph will also talk about some of the other amazing feats that he has accomplished, including an incredible seven marathons in seven days: a global adventure that began in the wilds of South America and finished in New York's concrete jungle. In March, 2007, despite former frostbite injuries, limited climbing experience and a fear of heights, at the age of 63, Ran successfully climbed the North Face of the Eiger to raise money for the Marie Curie cancer charity after losing his wife, mother and sister to the disease over an 18-month period. At the age of 65 and at his 3rd attempt, he conquered Mount Everest, telling the BBC, "This is the closest you can get to the moon by walking."

 Show Information

Think Cracker; think offender profiling; think the real CSI..

Spend an evening with two men who between them have served over fifty years in prison for serious violent crime and meet one man who's seeking answers.

Professor David Wilson is the country's leading criminologist and an expert on murder and serial killings. His books and TV series, including Banged Up and Serial Killers Behind Bars, give benchmark insights into the minds of those who present the greatest danger to society. Chances are when a particularly heinous murder is baffling the police it will be Professor Wilson who is asked to help and advise.
Noel "Razor" Smith

Noel “Razor” Smith is a reformed serial armed bank robber who served a total of 33 years inside some of the UK’s most secure prisons. Unable to read or write when he entered prison, self-taught Smith, once labelled “Public Enemy Number One” by the police found redemption through writing. His best selling autobiography A Few Kind Words and a Loaded Gun charts how and why he turned his life around, and its sequel A Rusty Gun explains how therapy enabled him to come to terms with his past and make the changes he had to make to finally live a crime free life among civilised society.

Erwin James

Erwin James is an acclaimed Guardian columnist and author who served twenty years of a life sentence in prison for murder. Following a childhood described as “brutal and rootless” by a prison psychologist following the death of his mother when he was 7 his dysfunctional life journey eventually led him to the Number 1 Court at the Old Bailey facing two murder charges. James entered prison an ill-educated, inarticulate brute, only to emerge twenty years later an arts graduate with a successful professional writing career, whose two books on prison life A Life Inside and The Home Stretch have become classics of the genre.

Your evening will be guided by Professor Wilson, posing probing and challenging questions. What causes crime? Are there some people who are just born bad? Is rehabilitation an insult to victims? He will also field questions from the audience.

Music, style and pop culture icons; Blondie will be heading back to the Isle of Man for a very special show after the sell out appearance in 2011.
