Highway Works in Marathon Drive, Douglas

Due to highway works, buses are unable to serve Marathon Drive between 0900 and 1615 from Monday 27 October until 7 November 2014. (or until the works are completed).

Concessions

Children

Children under 5 travel free of charge up to a maximum of two per full fare paying passenger so long as a seat required by another passenger is not used. The third (or subsequent) child under five must pay the child fare.

Children over 5 years of age and under 16 pay the child fare. The child may be asked for proof of age in case of doubt.

Students & Scholars

All scholars attending State schools are entitled to free transport* between the nearest stop to their home and the school at the commencement and end of the school day only. Free travel is permitted also for journeys to and from home at lunch time.

Isle of Man College Students are entitled to free travel on journeys to and from College only on production of Student Union Cards.

*Note: On certain morning scheduled service buses in the Douglas/Onchan area where parallel school services are supplied.

Senior Citizens

On reaching state retirement age Manx residents can apply for a free travel pass valid on Isle of Man Railways and bus vannin services. To qualify you must be a Manx resident for a minimum of six consecutive months and be eligible to receive the state pension. A passport-size photograph and proof of identity is required. The Welcome Centre, at the Sea Terminal, Douglas, issues the cards once eligibility is confirmed. Please note a new smart travel card will replace the 60+ card - all current holders will receive the new card in 2015. All new applicants for the concessionary travel card must be of state retirement age.

The pass entitles the holder to:

  • Free Travel on scheduled bus services of I.o.M. Transport after 09:00 Mondays to Fridays and all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and Public/Bank Holidays.
  • Half Fare travel on bus services up to 09:00 Mondays to Fridays.
  • Free Travel on scheduled services of the IoM Steam Railway.
  • Free Travel on scheduled services of the Manx Electric Railway.
  • Free Travel on scheduled services on the Snaefell Mountain Railway.
  • Half fare on the Night Owl Hullad Oie services.

DSC Disability Concession Passes

DSC Disability Concession Passes are authorised by the Department of Social Care (DSC) 3-4 Hill Street, Douglas, IM1 1EF. Telephone 686325. The IOM Welcome Centre, Sea Terminal, Douglas issue the pass on production of a letter of entitlement from the DSC. A passport size photograph is required.

The pass entitles the holder to:

  • Free Travel on scheduled bus services of I.o.M. Transport after 09:00 Mondays to Fridays and all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and Public/Bank Holidays.
  • Half Fare travel on bus services up to 09:00 Mondays to Fridays.
  • Free Travel on scheduled services of the I.o.M. Steam Railway.
  • Free Travel on scheduled services of the Manx Electric Railway.
  • Free Travel on scheduled services on the Snaefell Mountain Railway.

Manx Blind Welfare

The pass entitles the holder to travel free at all times with the exception of the Manx Express. Guide dogs travel free.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Concessionary Travel Passes for Senior Citizens, DSC Disability Concession Passes and Manx Blind Welfare Passes cannot be used for travel on EXPRESS SERVICES that are timed to arrive in Douglas before 09:00 and for EXPRESS SERVICES that depart Douglas between 17:00 & 18:00. An admin charge of £10.00 will be applied for the reissue of all lost passes.
