Isle of Man Post is pleased to present a set of six stamps designed by local artist Julia Ashby Smyth to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of the Jamestown Settlement.The 400th anniversary of the founding of a community that would help shape the future United States of America is being celebrated in 2007.
These celebrations, will include a visit by Queen Elizabeth II to mark the foundation in 1607 of the first successful English settlement in America.
The settlement was named Jamestowne in honour of King James 1, who granted a charter in 1606 to the London-based Virginia Company to settle in North Virginia – we explore some surprising Manx links.This set of 6 stamps is available in fully illustrated sheets of 15
