Those Magnificent Men...
We commemorate this landmark occasion with a set of six stamps featuring the wonderfully-detailed illustrations of aeronautic artist Arvo Vercamer.
The Corps was formed by a Royal Warrant in April 1912 and began as a collection of disparate groups until it became the unified fighting force that numbered 27 squadrons with over 420 aircraft plus a further 216 in depots and training at the time of the Battle of the Somme in 1916. We tell the story of the formation and success of the Corps and pinpoint the significant aircraft that were so vital in its development.
