As well as being posted on this website, most Civil Service vacancies are advertised in the local newspapers (Courier and Examiner) and notified to the Jobcentre. Occasionally, vacancies are advertised only to existing civil servants and are not therefore publicised externally.
You must apply separately for each vacancy you are interested in, as we do not presently maintain a general file of applications for the Service.
Application Forms
Job Information Packs and Application Forms should be sought from the contact name and address given on each advertisement. The Application Form is only a summary sheet, and in all cases must be accompanied by your C.V.
The Application Form requires you to provide information on your Work Permit status. Guidance on this is contained within the Work Permits page. You are also required to give your National Insurance number. If you are unsure what your National Insurance number is, you should call the DHSS Contributions Section on 685177.
The application form requires you to declare information about criminal offences. Please refer to the guidance about the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 2001 before completing this section.
Please download the Application Form (PDF 69 kb). This form can be completed on-line but must be printed and submitted in hard copy.
Unfortunately it is not currently possible to submit your application on-line.

Candidates with Disabilities Prospective applicants with disabilities should notify the Personnel Office if they need assistance in the recruitment and selection process. This includes any special arrangements that may be required to enable you to attend for interview, or for you to be sent Information Packs etc. in large or bold type.
Canvassing
CANVASSING OF MEMBERS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION OR OF THE DEPARTMENT CONCERNED EITHER DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY IN CONNECTION WITH ANY APPOINTMENT UNDER THE CIVIL SERVICE ACTS SHALL DISQUALIFY THE CANDIDATE.
This does not prevent an applicant from seeking more information on the post from officers of the Department or from contacting Members of the Legislature for reference purposes, other than those serving on the Civil Service Commission or the Department involved.
