The Office of Fair Trading takes its role in ensuring the safety of retail goods and the protection of young people from the dangers of such goods very seriously.

The Office enforces the legislation which makes it illegal for young people under the age of 16 to purchase petrol or for suppliers to sell to them - the penalties for both supplier and purchaser are severe.
