Welcome
The Good Trader Scheme is an initiative from the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading to help businesses comply with the law whilst improving consumer protection through a partnership approach.
The aim of the Scheme is to promote and support the good, reliable tradesmen and businesses in the Island, whilst in turn improving customer service.
Consumers will be put in touch with businesses who have agreed to provide high standards of customer service, including dealing with any complaints. Consumers can choose from a list of businesses who aim to provide a reliable and customer friendly service. It helps to give consumers peace of mind, particularly older people who need to know who they can trust.
The Office cannot approve or recommend the services offered by businesses but those who are committed to trading fairly and honestly may apply to join the Scheme and commit to its Code of Conduct.
The traders undergo rigorous checks and an audit before they are able to join the Scheme which is currently open to businesses within the motor trade. Traders can greatly benefit from the positive publicity and potential extra business of being a member of the Good Trader Scheme. Only when a trader has passed stringent checks and can show compliance with the letter and the spirit of the law can they display the Good Trader Scheme logo.
