St Michaels Isle
There is evidence for human activity on St Michael’s Isle from the Mesolithic period onwards and the Island is home to important communities of maritime plants. St Michael’s Chapel originated in the twelfth century. Derby Fort dates from 1645 and represents the refurbishment by James, the 7th Earl of Derby of an earlier 1540 fort. |
