This pack explores the remarkable history of Manx sea fishing, a crucial part of the Manx economy. The research presented covers many aspects and methods of sea fishing and explores the customs and traditions of Manx fishermen.

The teacher’s resource book comprises is divided into 5 parts:-

Part one comprehensively covers Manx Sea Fishing before 1750.

Part two describes Manx sea fishing from 1750 to 1850, exploring topics such as herring fishery and trade.

Part three describes Manx sea fishing from 1840 to 1920, providing in-depth research on fishing at Kinsale and Lerwick. This section also includes descriptions of Lugger, Nickey and Nobby boats.

Part four describes Manx sea fishing from 1920 to 1990, outlining the changes to Manx fishing boats and the conservation of herring stocks.
