Crested China

Crested China

Manx Museum Accession Number - 1982-0015

Goss crested china was popular before the First World War and in the 1920s. This particular example carries the arms of the Borough of Douglas, capital of the Isle of Man. Goss china such as this was sold through only one retailer in each town or village throughout Britain. In Douglas the appointed agent was J.Clague, whose shop, Clague’s China Rooms, was on Strand Street.

This china is on display in the Manx Museum, Douglas.
