Sword of State
![]() | Manx Museum Accession Number - 20001 |
The Sword of State is carried by the representative of the monarch (as Lord of Mann) each midsummer at the Tynwald ceremony. The sword illustrated here was probably made for the Dukes of Atholl in the early 1700s. This replaced a much earlier sword, which dates from at least the fifteenth century and features one of the earliest representations of the Three Legs of Mann.
