Lustreware jug
![]() | Manx Museum Accession Number - 1954-5279 |
The pride of a typical Manx cottage was the dresser, which would have been decorated with a fine array of rosy basins and lusterware jugs such as this one. Manx folklore had it that the jugs should be hung up with the mouths facing away from the door, in order to keep the luck in the house.
This jug is on display in the Manx Museum, Douglas.
