Ear Scoop and Finger Nail Scraper
![]() Bone tool from Rushen Abbey | Dimensions: Length 9cm Manx Museum Accession Number - 1998-0508.0076 |
Piece of bone worked to form a shallow scoop at one end, and a flat point at the other. A 14th-15th century date has been suggested for this toilet implement. The flat point would have been used to slide under the finger nail to remove dirt and the scoop would have been inserted into the ear to remove any build up of wax.
This object can be seen on display at Rushen Abbey.
