Basic Terms and Conditions
Pay
Starting pay is decided by taking into account relevant work experience, skills and qualifications. Salary payments are made payable directly to a bank account on the 25th of every month. Unless you are appointed at the top of a pay scale, you will subject to satisfactory performance receive an annual increment until you reach the maximum. Weekly hours of work are 37.
Holidays
Holiday entitlements are as follows:
- Minimum 22 days
- 23 days after 6 years service
- 24 days after 11 years service
- 25 days after 16 years service
- 28 days after 21 years service
- 29 days after 26 years service
- 30 days after 31 years service
In addition to annual paid holidays there are 10 Public and Bank Holidays which are New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, 2 May Bank holidays, Senior race day, Tynwald Day, August Bank Holiday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
The MEA also gives one privilege holiday each year which should be taken on 2 January.
Probationary Period
Appointment is subject to a probationary period of three months during which time you are expected to demonstrate good standards of performance, health attendance and conduct.
Sick Pay
Permanent full time employees who are eligible for company sick pay will, subject to certain conditions, be paid at full pay for a period not exceeding 6 months (182 days) in aggregate, during any period of 12 months. When this allowance is exhausted sick pay is payable at half pay for six months.
Company Pension Scheme
The MEA has its own Pension Scheme and should you be offered employment your contract will inform you of your eligibility to join the scheme.
Eligible employees contribute 6% of pensionable salary into the scheme and the MEA contributes 7%.
