e-llan Communications Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Manx Electricity Authority (MEA), the Isle of Man’s electricity supplier. The company was created to leverage the commercial potential of the spare fibre optic capacity of the UK-IOM sub-sea power cable.

By linking to NWIX, a leading UK carrier, e-llan offers a range of high bandwidth Ethernet and SDH solutions to the UK and beyond. e-llan also utilises an extensive on-island fibre network connecting MEA substations around the Isle of Man to provide fibre tails to off island bandwidth customers.

The Isle of Man has long been the envy of other Island jurisdictions due to the quality of it’s telecoms infrastructure. Now with the launch of e-llan communications, the resilience and competitiveness of off-island connectivity has become greatly enhanced.
