McLeods Field, Ramsey Road, Peel
The Department was most surprised and dismayed at the press release issued by Peel Town Commissioners this afternoon regarding on ongoing review of matters relating to a housing development at McLeod’s Field, Ramsey Road, Peel.
Unlike the Commissioners, the Department feels very strongly that it is completely inappropriate to provide comment with regards to an ongoing review. However, the Department notes the comments made by the Commissioners and would invite them to share the findings of their “extensive investigation” into this subject. The Department has not been asked to participate in the Peel Town Commissioners investigation, nor has it been asked to provide information to support their investigation.
As a matter of course, the Department takes most seriously any allegations of “irregularity” made to it on any matter, and all are processed in accordance with the Isle of Man Government’s Governance Code.
Minister for the Department, David Cretney, MHK stated:
“I am extremely disappointed that Peel Town Commissioners have decided to pre-empt the outcome of Government’s own review of this matter by issuing this statement today. I am not in a position nor would I wish to comment on the work that is currently being undertaken to review the matters relating to this development. Once again, I would encourage the Commissioners if they feel they have robust evidence of serious irregularities relating to the development to provide that to myself or officers in the Department as matter of urgency so that it can be considered in the current review.”
