LOCAL AUTHORITY ELECTIONS – 26 APRIL 2012 - Management Services Division Press Release
The Local Authority Elections are taking place tomorrow, Thursday (26th April 2012) and the Department would like to remind registered voters in contested areas that they can vote for as many candidates as there are seats available.
Richard Ronan, the Department’s Member with responsibility for Local Authorities commented that:-
“When attending the polling station to vote on Thursday 26th April, you will be given a ballot paper to mark, listing the names of all those candidates standing in your area. Registered electors can vote for as many candidates as there are seats to be filled, and most Local Authority election officials will remind you of this when handing you a ballot paper at the polling station. For example, Braddan Parish Commissioners have seven candidates standing for five seats, and therefore if you are a registered voter in Braddan, you will be able to vote for any number of candidates; from a minimum of 1 up to a maximum of 5.”
Should you have queries on how to vote, then please contact the Local Authority for your area, in addition to viewing the guidance set out on the Department’s website, which can be accessed via the link below:- http://www.gov.im/transport/msd/local/elections.xml
