MOUNTAIN ROAD CLOSURE

In response to concerns raised with him by Ramsey Chamber of Commerce, Minister for Infrastructure David Cretney MHK has taken the decision not to go ahead with the planned Mountain Road closure on the weekend of 21st & 22nd April. The closure was planned to allow resurfacing work to be carried out at Ramsey Hairpin and to carry out other repairs in advance of TT. Unfortunately, this clashed with the planned Ramsey Charity Fun Day and therefore the decision has been taken to postpone the works. It will, however, remain necessary to close the Mountain Road during the day on Friday 20th April in order to carry out temporary repairs to make the road surface safe for traffic and for the TT races. Full resurfacing of this section of road is now planned for after TT and will involve road closures on dates to be agreed with Ramsey Chamber of Commerce and Ramsey Town Commissioners.

Planned road closures for the Mountain Road will now take place on the following dates:

Tuesday 17 April: 9:15 to 16:00 For re-erection of footbridge (Beinn y Phott Road to Tholt y Will Road)

Friday 20 April 9:15 to 16:00 Ramsey Hairpin resurfacing & TT preparation

Saturday 28 9:15 to 17:00 Classic Car Hill Climb (Barrule Park to 26th Milestone)

Mon/Tues/Wed 14/15/16 May 9:15 to 16:00 TT Preparation

Mon/Tues/Wed 21/22/23 May 9:15 to 16:00 Provisional (TT Preparation in the event of bad weather on 14/15/16)

Friday 25 May 9:15 to 16:00 TT One Way setup

Monday 11 June 9:15 to 16:00 TT One Way removal

In all cases the duration of the closure will be kept to a minimum and the road will be reopened as soon as it is safe to do so on completion of the work. The Department apologies for any inconvenience caused during these closures.
