Emergency Closure and Parking Suspension Athol St, Port St Mary

The Department of Infrastructure has closed a section of Athol St from a point adjacent the northern boundary of the Albert Hotel to a point adjacent to Quine and Cubbon Printers and suspended parking on sections of Queen Road east.

This action was necessary due to concerns over demolition work being carried out by a third party and the stability of tall partly demolished structures in high winds (nos 2 and 4 Athol St). The closure is precautionary to protect the public from possible falling debris. The parking suspension is required to enable buses to negotiate the diversion route which is via Queens Rd.

Residents will continue to have pedestrian access to their properties although some sections of the road will also be fenced off.

The orders will apply until 4pm on 11th April 2012 or until the structures are made safe.
