18th June 2009 Disruption to postal services in London announcedIndustrial action in Royal Mail has been announced by the Communication Workers Union (CWU). On Friday 19th June several thousand postal workers in London will stage a 24-hour strike. The strike will affect most London postcode districts (E, N, NW, SE, SW and W). Most delivery offices are taking part in the action with the exception of EC and WC and the Houses of Parliament delivery offices which should work normally. The 24-hour strike will affect collections and deliveries on Friday. It starts with the early shift on Friday morning and ends early on Saturday when staff are due to return to work in time for the normal delivery. Isle of Man Post Office would like to advise its customers that it will be forwarding all mail as normal but that anyone sending standard mail on Thursday or Friday to the affected postcode areas should expect delays. Mail posted on Friday from these parts of London for the Isle of Man will be delayed also. Customers should note the industrial action should not affect the Special Delivery next-day guaranteed service from the Isle of Man. Contingency plans are in place to get these delivered as normal throughout the London area. Isle of Man Post Office would like to confirm that its employees are not involved in this industrial action. Customers with any queries can contact our Customer Services Team on 664664.
