28th November 2005 Have We Got News For You! - Ian Hislop Visits the Manx Museum to make documentary film 'Not Forgotten'.BBC ‘Have I Got News For You’ wit and editor of the satirical publication Private Eye, Ian Hislop, visited the Manx National Heritage Library to undertake filming for the television series ‘Not Forgotten’ which examines the attitudes to war of those who fought in the Great War and the effect their experiences had on their families.
Perhaps best known as a panellist on the cult programme ‘Have I Got News For You’, Ian also appeared recently in the hugely successful television series ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ which took him on a voyage of discovery as he charted his ancestry through centuries past to a crofters plot in the Hebrides, or Western Isles.
Commenting on Ian’s visit, Roger Sims, Librarian Archivist for Manx National Heritage, said:
“It was a pleasure to welcome Ian Hislop to the Library and to assist him in making such interesting programmes. In common with countless others, I have enjoyed ‘Have I Got News for You’ for many years, so having the opportunity to actually meet Ian was indeed a personal pleasure also”. The first programmes in the series ‘Not Forgotten’ were transmitted at 8pm on Sunday 20th and Sunday 27th November on Channel 4. The transmission dates for the remaining programmes are 4th December and 11th December.
