Appointment of Chief Officer, The Personnel Office

The Civil Service Commission has today announced the appointment of Mr Keith Stewart as Chief Officer, The Personnel Office, on an interim basis.

Keith, who will formally take up his duties on 1 November 2009, is currently the Director of Performance Improvement on the staff of The Personnel Office and has recently been appointed Secretary to the Civil Service Commission and Secretary to the Employers’ Side of Whitley Council. He will remain in post on an interim basis, pending the outcome of the review of human resource functions across Government.

Commenting on the appointment Mr John Houghton MHK, said “I am very pleased that Keith is taking up this appointment and look forward to working with him in his new capacity. Keith has a wealth of Public Service experience at senior level and I am confident that he will be invaluable in his new role.”

Keith succeeds Brenda Skillicorn, who retires at the end of October 2009. Brenda has had a long and distinguished career, having been with the Civil Service for 36 years, the last 13 of which were as the Chief Officer of The Personnel Office. The Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Mr John Houghton MHK, said, “Brenda is to be commended for the valuable contribution she has made to the Isle of Man Government. We will miss her experienced viewpoint and professional advice.”
