8th February 2010 Ballakermeen Launches Silver Jubilee YearAt a media event on Wednesday, 10th February at the school, the Ballakermeen Silver Jubilee Committee will formally launch the 25th anniversary celebrations of Ballakermeen High School.
A re-organization of Eastern Schools in 1985 led to the closure of Ballakermeen Junior High School and the birth of Ballakermeen High School, which has become the Island's largest secondary school. Thousands of students have been educated there since, and a number of them are joining with the school to organize a special year of celebration.
A committee of former students and teachers has been working since September 2008 and is now ready to announce an outline programme. Plans will be revealed to the media and other interested parties at 4.00 pm on Wednesday 10th February in the school's sixth form centre, and later on the Facebook page Ballakermeen High School Silver Jubilee Celebrations. Members of the committee and other helpers will be present to outline and explain events.
A competition to design a 25th anniversary logo was won by Hannah McDaid , a Year 8 student, who will be presented with a special prize at Wednesday's launch. | | |
