10th July 2008 Films Selected for Under the Stars outdoor screeningsThe final films for the annual Under the Stars outdoor screenings have been announced as;
Family film: Stormbreaker (filmed on the Island in 2005) Chic-flick: Dirty Dancing
Late Night comedy horror: Shaun of the Dead The screenings, organised by Isle of Man Film in conjunction with the Isle of Man Arts Council and this year sponsored by local film finance and production company CinemaNX, will take place on the 29th and 30th August in the grounds of The Nunnery with Stormbreaker on the Friday night and Dirty Dancing on the Saturday followed by a late night screening of Shaun of the Dead. DTI Minister David Cretney said ‘After the enormous success of our inaugural outdoor screening event last year, we are delighted to have extended the screenings from 2 to 3 with some fantastic films in the line up. We also thought it was appropriate to have a Manx made movie in there and what better than Stormbreaker, one of the smash hits of 2005.’ The Under the Stars event is organised as part of the Arts Council Film Festival weekend which also comprises the Young Film-maker of Mann competition and a short film competition, plus a number of documentary and foreign film screenings. Further details on these elements of the Festival can be obtained from the Arts Council by ringing 694598.
