13th May 2008 Excellent turnout for Drug and Alcohol Strategy open day
Several government and voluntary organisations were represented at the event which aimed to promote a greater understanding of drug and alcohol issues in the Island. Initiatives being progressed as part of the Drug and Alcohol Strategy were outlined along with the information and support that is available to the public. The open day provided an opportunity for people to express their views on matters affecting the community as a result of drinking and drug use. Some of the displays at the Hilton were interactive and there was also a chance to sample a mocktail – a non-alcoholic cocktail.
Margaret O’Reilly, director of drug and alcohol policy and research, said: ‘This open day was a big part of our communication and awareness campaign. It proved very popular with people of all ages turning up to find out about the various activities being undertaken under the umbrella of the Drug and Alcohol Strategy.’
