16th April 2009 Isle of Man holds meetings with Michael FootMeetings have been held in Douglas (Wednesday April 15, 2009) between Isle of Man Government officials, private sector representatives and Mr Michael Foot, who is leading the independent review of British offshore financial centres for the UK Government. The meetings have involved the Chief Secretary, the Chief Financial Officer, the Attorney General, the Assessor of Income Tax, the Economic Advisor, the chief executives of the Financial Supervision Commission and the Insurance and Pensions Authority, and representatives of the Island’s banking, insurance, legal and accountancy professions.
It is expected that these fact-finding meetings will be followed later this month by meetings between Mr Foot and Chief Minister Tony Brown MHK and Treasury Minister Allan Bell MHK.
