23rd October 2008 Isle of Man Government in bank meeting with UK TreasuryA senior delegation from the Isle of Man Government will be in London tomorrow (Friday October 24,2008) for a meeting with the United Kingdom Treasury and the UK Financial Services Authority over the position of Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander (Isle of Man) Limited. The delegation - comprising Chief Secretary Mary Williams, Chief Financial Officer Mark Shimmin and Financial Supervision Commission Chief Executive John Aspden – will express the Isle of Man Government’s concerns over the situation of the bank’s depositors. The Isle of Man subsidiary of Kaupthing had to close when some of its deposits were caught in the UK Government’s freezing of Icelandic bank assets. |
