The Isle of Man Government's Economic Adviser and Head of Treasury's Economic Affairs Division (a position he has held since 1989), Steven Carse has a degree and masters degree in economics.

His principal responsibilities as Economic Adviser are:

• provision of advice on economic and related policy matters
• management of Treasury Division (11 staff) with remit to collate and publish Government statistical data, analyse economic trends and performance of the economy, and provide economic policy advice to Treasury and other Departments of Government.
