The Isle of Man Government is developing an on-line mapping facility to allow ready publication of Governmental spatial and map-based information.

The Streetmaps site you are entering is based on new web-based mapping technology and is being run on a trial basis to assess performance and encourage feedback.

Accessibility

The Isle of Man Government requires this site to be as accessible as possible. The site works with multiple browsers and has been developed without javascript. We also wish to ensure that disabled users can access this service. Please submit any feedback using the links at the bottom of this page

Map Copyright

IoM Survey provides all digital background mapping on this site under licence to Government Departments and Statutory Boards. Mapping is provided solely for the purpose of making Government information available in the public domain. Website map content is reproduced from Isle of Man Survey mapping with the permission of the Department of Local Government and the Environment, © Crown Copyright.

Anyone wishing to use the mapping information held on this site for their own purposes must make their own separate arrangements with IoM Survey. Any unauthorised use will infringe Crown Copyright and may lead to prosecution or civil proceedings.

Data Accuracy

Whilst every effort is made to ensure map data is accurate and up-to-date, we cannot guarantee that the information is error-free. Isle of Man Government accepts no responsibility for the accuracy of the data, nor its fitness for any purpose to which it is put. If errors are discovered, please notify the relevant Department, or contact the MANNGIS team and we will endeavour to correct them.

MANNGIS On-line Mapping

The new site provides the following facilities:-

• All-Island Street and postcode searches
• Zoom and pan tools
• Predefined town and village area maps
• All-Island coverage of maps down to a very detailed level
• A number of public map overlays and a point-and-click tool to retrieve information from within these.

All map layers are retrieved directly from “back-office” systems and hence represent the most up-to-date information available. Currently, the range of map overlays is limited. Once the facility is fully-released however, additional map layers will be added on a regular basis and, over time, the site will become a single point of access for all geographic information published by Government. Layers included will be based on the requirements of residents, visitors and businesses and may include such things as planning applications, roadworks, Government and public buildings, catchment areas for schools or GP practices, bus routes and so on.

MANNGIS is a pan-Government project, set up in 1992, to facilitate and encourage a joined-up approach to the development of digital map data, gazetteers and Geographic Information Systems in Government Departments and Statutory Boards.
