Public Servants must be responsive, flexible and focused on the needs of the Island’s community. To achieve this Learning and Organisational Development, a Division of the Office of Human Resources works in partnership with all areas of Government supporting the most appropriate learning and development for our people so that the right people are in the right place at the right time to give an excellent service to our community.
Learning is an activity which an individual chooses to access through different experiences. We cannot make you learn – what we can do is offer you different development opportunities to help you learn and raise your awareness to how you can further develop in your role.
The direct opportunities that we deliver are through:
- 360 feedback
- Psychometric testing
- Action Learning Sets
- Tutor led training programmes
- Development interviews
- Career development profiling
- Tailored learning and development programmes
We also enable indirect opportunities such as:
- Secondments
- Shadowing
- External training programmes
- Project work
There are also opportunities which individuals can access for themselves:
- Job rotation/on-the-job training
- Job swaps
- Training others
- Further education opportunities
- Computer based learning packages
- Independent learning
Organisational development is about helping the organisation to be more effective – the “organisation” may be a department, a division or a team, or a particular group of people like the Civil Service. LODD supports this by delivering opportunities through:
