Cycling Proficiency
What is the Cycling Proficiency Scheme?

The Road Safety Unit takes Year Five or Six children at Primary School for a cycling course to enable them to have better knowledge on how to become safer road users on their bikes.
The scheme covers:
- basic bike maintenance
- signaling and turns, and
- the rules of the Highway Code
All children are continually assessed throughout the scheme, and are tested on the rules of the Highway Code. All children receive a certificate and a sheet informing them of ways to further improve their cycling skills.
