NHS OPTICIANS
Under the NHS, a full eye care service is available. Sight tests are provided free to all patients on an annual basis. Your sight can only be tested by an ophthalmic medical practitioners or ophthalmic optician (optometrist).
Whilst the supply and repair of glasses is essentially a private arrangement between the patient and the optician, NHS vouchers are made available. These vouchers are available to children and other specified groups and are used to reduce the cost to the patient. Your optician can provide you with further information in relation to your eligibility for a voucher.
