ISLE OF MAN NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE DENTISTS
Below is a list of NHS dental practices and downloadable forms.
Emergency Dental Treatment
All patients who are not ‘registered’ with a dentist are able to obtain Emergency Dental Treatment from the Salaried NHS Dental Service.
General Dental Services
General Dental Services are provided under the National Health Service and comprise of examinations (check-ups) and all the necessary treatment required to secure and maintain patients oral health.
Patients can seek to ‘register’ with an NHS dentist and be included on their list. This ensures that the dentist can provide the necessary continuing care. A patient wishing to do this should telephone Family Practitioner Services on +44 (0) 1624 642612.
A charge is payable for NHS dental services and the dental practice may ask a patient to pay before beginning treatment. Patients can ask their dentist how much their individual treatment plan will cost before they commence treatment.
There is no charge for dental examinations only, writing a prescription* or removing stitches, and repairs to dentures.
* Usual charges apply when getting the prescription is dispensed.
The following groups of patients are exempt from paying NHS dental charges:
- All children under 18 or those up to 19 in full-time secondary education
- Persons over the age of 65 years
- Persons in receipt of Income Based Job Seekers Allowance , Family Income Supplement, Disability Working Allowance and Income Support
- Expectant mothers and mothers with a baby less than 12 months old
- War Pensioners
- Registered Blind Persons
Patients not falling within the above categories may be able to get help with the cost of NHS treatment on low income grounds and are required to complete a form F1, which is then submitted to Family Practitioner Services, Crookall House, Demesne Road, Douglas for processing.
