E-LEARNING

These programmes will never fully replace our face to face courses but they complement them and will provide additional and very cost-effective provision in many cases.

A number of e-learning opportunities are already available. Please see below.

In addition e-learning has been delivered in the Ambulance Service and Noble’s Hospital has piloted programmes relating to Infection Control and Nutrition.

eLearn Vannin

In addition a project group is looking at the eLearn Vannin project to develop a learning platform which will record learning and development and act as a route in to a wide and growing range of e-learning opportunities. An e-learning group consisting of representation from across DH and DSC has been set up and has prepared a strong business case for the development of e-learning which clarifies the real benefits in terms of access to learning and efficiency savings.

Available from: http://lifeguide.north-51.com/player/play/IoM

Please ALWAYS use this ISLE OF Man weblink (and keep a note of your username/password). Please email Anita.Imberger@gov.im for a brief guide to using the programme.

Information about the Programme

The NCSCT Stage 1 Training Programme will provide you with a good understanding of the factors involved in smoking and smoking cessation, and will link this theoretical understanding to professional practice.

It is for experienced practitioners who want to update or improve their knowledge and skills – as well as newcomers to the profession.

It takes approximately 6 – 8 hours to complete and it is recommended that practitioners do not try to complete it in one sitting. Stage 1 NCSCT certification will be available to all those that pass the online Stage 1 Assessment.

The NCSCT is developing an online Stage 2 Assessment (practice) to move stop smoking practitioners to full NCSCT certification. This will be available at the end of 2011.

For more information about the programme please contact:
