GOVERNANCE - WHO WE ARE

Infection Prevention and Control

Noble’s Hospital staff takes infection prevention and control very seriously.

A dedicated infection prevention and control team provides expert advice to the Department of Health on the management of infection and informs patients, visitors and staff on strategies to minimise the risk of healthcare associated infection.

Noble’s Hospital has adopted a range of measures to prevent healthcare associated infection. These include:

Education

Training is mandatory for all staff to keep them updated and focused on infection prevention and control principles. Each member of staff is responsible for ensuring they attend training every year.

Infection Prevention and Control Link Practitioners

Each area within Noble’s Hospital has at least one champion who works closely with the infection prevention and control team to ensure that high standards are maintained. They also undertake audit which forms part of the hospitals monitoring system for infection prevention and control standards. The link practitioner provides practical hand hygiene training to all members of staff in their own area, and is a resource for other members of staff. Patients and staff in partnership Our success in combating healthcare associated infections cannot be achieved without the support of patients, visitors and staff. Patient representatives are members of the Infection Control Committee and take an active part within Noble’s to improve standards and reduce healthcare associated infection.
