Remit of the e business Consultative Committee

  • Each private sector member of the committee will serve for an initial period of one year from the date of appointment. This period of tenure is to facilitate the opportunity for the membership of the committee to be reviewed as circumstances and priorities change.
  • To meet on a regular basis and at least quarterly, for the purpose of:
    • bringing to the forum private sector views on how to further develop the Island as a centre for e-business.
    • providing the officer members of the Committee with briefings on emerging e-business related developments to ensure that the officers are kept fully briefed on private sector developments.
    • The Committee will also receive briefings from the officers on the progress of e-business related initiatives in Government.
  • that unless agreed to the contrary, Committee members should be able to seek and bring to meetings a wider point of view based on consultation with working colleagues and all associates whose input may be relevant to the issues under consideration.
  • To develop more of a co-ordinated approach in relation to Government’s e-business activities.
  • To advise the Treasury and Department of Trade and Industry on matters of policy and to provide briefings on developments of significance in relation to e-business.
  • To act as the principal e-business interface between Government and the private sector in terms of discussing the development of strategies, policies and programmes.
  • that the work of the Committee should be publicised, with the Committee’s remit being published on the www.e-business.gov.im website.
  • that Committee members should have the ability to input into the agenda for meetings.
  • that the work of the Committee should be structured in such a way as to provide for agreed points of action and for these agreed points of action to then be compared against subsequent deliverables.
