Support for Unemployed Persons

Training Services can support the re-training of unemployed persons through either direct training or financial assistance to potential employers.

Direct Training

Most training courses are available to all members of the public. Although apprenticeships are still the main route for the development of individuals, shorter training courses can help to gain employment where there are particular skill shortages:

Office Technology

A thirteen week course providing the essential core elements for office based employment. The course includes touch-typing, word processing, database and spreadsheets.

Individual Training Needs

Financial assistance may be available to individuals who need training on or off Island which will lead to full time, permanent employment. Assistance is determined on an individual basis, depending upon each person's circumstances and can cover course fees, accommodation and travel costs.
