Production Queries
How do I make an application?
An application should be made in accordance with the details on our Media Development fund page. This should then be sent to us at Hamilton House, Peel Road, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 5EP. We don't have application forms

How do I find out more about the Island?

Please look at our links page for links to further information about the Island. We also have a specialised locations site at www.iomlocations.com. Alternatively, most production companies take a recce to the Island to check Island life out for themselves. Travel details are listed on our links page.Also see our Filming on the Isle of Man page.

Do I need a work permit to work on a film on the Island?

Please note that work permit exemption is granted only to persons providing specialist services to any specific production. Anyone working on a production who is not a British citizen or a national of the European Economic Union needs a specialist work permit to work in the Isle of Man. Please see Work Permits website for further information.
Do you have a list of available services on the Island?

Crew and Location Queries
I'd like to register my services with you and for you to include these in the Crew & Facilities Directory. How do I do this?
The Crew and Facilities Directory includes details of services available on the Island to production companies. The Directory is accessible online at our Crew and Facilities search page. If you would like to be included in the Directory, please download and print the Crew and Facilities Directory entry form for completion before sending it back to us via email or post to Isle of Man Film, Hamilton House, Peel Road, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 5EP. Please also include your CV and any leaflets or promotional material you may have. Please note that we only include Isle of Man registered Companies and resident individuals in our Directory. Any negotiations regarding fees and contractual arrangements are between the service provider and the Production Company and Isle of Man Film accepts no liability for such arrangements.
I'd like to register my property/land for production companies to use for filming. How do I do this?
We have a database of location photos at our office for Producers to use when looking for a location. If you would like to be added to this database, please download and print the Locations Database entry form for completion before sending it back to us at the above address. Please ensure that you include at least 2 photos (preferably digital, but prints are fine) which can be returned to you if a SAE is enclosed. It is also advisable to read our guidance notes to renting your property out as a location.
I'd like to register my property as accommodation for film crew and cast to use when on the Island. How can I do this?
Please send us photos of your property plus any additional information such as brochures and website addresses. For any queries about this, please contact us. We will keep your details on record and pass them onto Productions who are looking for accommodation.
I'd like to be more involved in the film industry on the Island. How can I do this?
One way to become more involved is to register with an extras agency on the Island. This will give you an idea of what is involved on a Film/TV shoot and will give you more of an idea of what particular part of filming you enjoy/don't enjoy. Ex-Isle are an extras agency based on the Island. If you have already worked in film and know which direction you would like to take, it would be a good idea to contact us to ask for the Production Company phone numbers so that you can liaise directly with them regarding possible employment.
I am considering a career in the film industry. Do you have any advice you can give me?
A good place to start is the Skillset Careers website. This offers specialist media careers advice. A list of courses is also available at the British Film Institute Website. You can also try the Isle of Man Government Careers Service. We encourage the use of trainees on our films and keep a list of people interested in trainee positions at our office. If you would like to be added to this list please contact us.On the Island, the Isle of Man College run courses in Media/Production. Please contact them for further details.
There is a production being filmed nearby, how can I find out what exactly is being filmed?
The best way to find out what is happening is to look at our news and recent events page. This will tell you which production is filming on the Island.
I work in the film industry. How can I find out when the next production is going to be on the Island?
Please look at our news and recent events page. We will give out Production Company numbers as soon as they have set up a Production office. Please note that some of these films may still be subject to Isle of Man Treasury approval.
