On A Clear Day is being premiered at the Sundance Film Festival as their opening film. For further information, please see the press release.
Relative Values - submitted 22nd November 2004
Relative Values is being shown in Ramsey at Waterloo Methodist Hall tonight at 7.30pm. Entrance is free but donations can be made to The Ramsey Cottage Hospital League of Friends. No booking is necessary, please turn up on the night.
Island At War - submitted 27th October 2004
The Minister for the Department of Trade & Industry, Alex Downie has confirmed that there will be no further collaboration with Granada Television on the drama series Island At War.
“Although the series was very popular and was pulling in an average of 5 million viewers per episode, ITV has a number of Second World War drama projects in hand or under consideration” said Mr Downie. “We will be working with ITV again on future projects, as well as collaborating with the BBC drama and film departments on a variety of other material.”

BBC North West are featuring an article on the filming of 5 Children and IT to be shown on Thursday 21st October at 6.30pm on BBC1.

The Tichborne Claimant is being shown on BBC 2 at 12.20am on 15th October.
I Capture The Castle - submitted 4th October 2004

Suzie Gold - submitted 4th October 2004

Toronto Film Festival - submitted 1st September 2004

Our next Production, Chromophobia has started shooting on the Island and will be here until the 15th September.

Four of our films are due to be released this year as follows:

- Churchill : The Hollywood Years - 2nd December

- The Libertine - 29th October - Please note that this release date has since been put back and we are still awaiting confirmation of the official date
Our next Production - submitted 9 August 2004
Beginning the 16th August 2004, our next production is an Irish co-production entitled Boy Eats Girl. Shooting will last 3 weeks.
Our next Production - submitted 23 July 2004
Our next production will be a Television project entitled The Rotters' Club. It is based on the book of the same name by Jonathan Coe. Shooting will start on 9th August 2004 for 3 weeks.
Gypsy Woman on Sky - submitted 2 July 2004
Gypsy Woman will be shown on Sky Movies 1 on Tuesday 6 July at 8pm. This film is also being shown on 25 August at midnight and 3 September at 02.35am.
Island At War - to be screened in July - submitted 16 June 2004
Island At War, the TV production filmed by Granada on the Island last year, is due to be screened from 11 July on ITV, with six episodes in total. The production, which was mostly shot in Castletown, is based on the fictional Island of St Gregory during the Second World war.
Our next Production - Tom Brown's Schooldays - submitted 30 April 2004
Our next production will be a television production based on the book written by Thomas Hughes. Filming on the Island should commence on 10th May. Filming on The Libertine has now finished and the crew have left the Island.

As filming comes to a close on The Libertine, various articles have appeared in the press. The Times and The Independent have both released articles relating to the Island and filming.
The Second Quest - viewing figures - submitted 23 April 2004
The Second Quest was fifth out of the week's most viewed programmes with an audience of 7.7 million.
Behind the Scenes on Kubrick - submitted 31 March 2004
'This Morning' will show behind the scenes filming from Colour Me Kubrick tomorrow (1st April) on ITV from 10.30am. Please click here for further information.
Manx Productions on TV - submitted 29 March 2004
The Quest II will be shown on Monday 5th April on ITV at 9pm. It is directed by and stars David Jason. Also showing on TV is The Legend of the Tamworth Two which is due to be screened on Easter Monday (12th April) at 6.30pm on BBC1.

The Libertine - submitted 27 February 2004
Isle of Man Film, production company Mr. Mudd and First Choice Films, the equity film partnership, have agreed terms to co-finance the feature film The Libertine enabling the UK shoot to go ahead as planned next week. The film which stars Johnny Depp, John Malkovich and Samantha Morton will shoot on the Isle of Man in April. The Libertine faced the prospect of immediate closure and the loss of 150 crew jobs following the announcement on 10th February of UK government changes in the tax laws.

Our next film - On A Clear Day - submitted 11 February 2004
We have been given treasury approval for our next film On A Clear Day, which is due to be filmed on the Island 21st June to 10 July 2004. The film stars Brenda Blethyn, Peter Mullan and Bob Hoskins.
Suzie Gold - UK release 5th March 2004 - submitted 5 February 2004
The UK release date for Suzie Gold has been announced as the 5th March 2004. The film stars Summer Phoenix and was filmed at Island Studios in Ramsey.
Paul Bettany receives award for The Heart of Me - submitted 2 February 2004
Paul Bettany received the Best Actor award last night at the Evening Standard Awards in London for his role in The Heart of Me and Master and Commander. The Heart of Me was filmed on the Island in 2001 and also stars Helena Bonham Carter and Olivia Williams, who has already won an award at the British Independent Film awards for her part in the film.
New members of staff - submitted 21st January 2004
The Film Commission has expanded with two new members of staff. Gill Young, our new Contract and Productions Support Officer and Sam Christian, our Film Officer have both started in the past two weeks and will work with exisiting staff in supporting existing production and new projects. One of Gill's main duties will be Production liasion with local authorities and residents.
Manx Movie Series at Erin Arts Centre - submitted 16th January 2004
Erin Arts Centre is showing a series of Manx Films as part of its Films for the Community programme. Films such as Relative Values and Gabriel and Me will be shown on the second Wednesday of the month at 2.30pm and 7.30pm and are open to all.
Manx Movies on Sky - submitted 6th January 2004
The Lawless Heart is to be shown on Sky Movies 1 at 8pm tonight. It was filmed on the Island in 2000 and stars Bill Nighy and Tom Hollander. Before You Go, starring Julie Walters is to be shown on Tuesday 13th January at 8pm
Thomas airs on New Years Day - submitted 5th January 2004
Thomas and the Magic Railroad aired on BBC1 on New Years Day. The Children's film starring Alec Baldwin and Peter Fonda, was filmed on the Island in 1999. For more information, please visit the official website.
Our next Production - Colour Me Kubrick- submitted 22nd December 2003
Plans for our next Production, 'Colour Me Kubrick' have now been finalised and the Production Company is due to start filming on the Island in February 2004. The film is based on the true story of Alan Conway, the middle-aged Londoner who assumed Stanley Kubrick's identity over a period of years. The lead role is being played by John Malkovich and also stars TV's Jim Davidson, Prunella Scales, and Leslie Phillips.
Trauma to premiere at Sundance - submitted 5th December 2003
Trauma, the film starring Colin Firth and Mena Suvari and co-produced with the Isle of Man Film Commission, is due to premiere at Sundance Film Festival in January 2004. Sundance is held annually in Utah, USA. For more information, please visit their site.
Our next Production - Piccadilly Jim - submitted 20th November 2003
We have now received Treasury approval for Piccadilly Jim, which is due to be filmed on the Island between 24th November to the 19th December 2003. Filming will take place at Island Studios in Ramsey for the most part. The film is based on the P G Wodehouse novel of the same name. The principal cast is Sam Rockwell (The Green Mile, Charlie's Angels) Brenda Blethyn (Secrets and Lies, Little Voice) Tom Hollander (Gosford Park, Enigma) and Tom Wilkinson (Girl with a Pearl Earring, Shakespeare in Love)
Actress in The Heart of Me Wins Award - submitted 6th November 2003
Olivia Williams has won the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a British Independent Film for her role in ‘The Heart of Me’, which was produced in conjunction with the Isle of Man Film Commission.
The award was presented at the British Independent Film Awards held at Hammersmith Palais, Hammersmith, London on 4th November.
‘The Heart of Me’ was filmed on the Island in 2001 and also stars Helena Bonham Carter and Paul Bettany. The story follows two sisters in the 1930’s.
Change of Staff - submitted 5th November 2003
We are currently recruiting for two new members of staff in the Film Office. Kim Fletcher is leaving the film office after 4 years, after having been promoted. We are therefore looking for a Film Officer to take her place. We have also developed a further new role for a Contracts and Production Support Officer. Release date for The Gathering - submitted 24th October 2003
The release date for the film shot on the Island has still not been set. It was filmed on the Island in 2001 and stars Christina Ricci. Marc Samuelson, the producer of the film, explained that the film had been sold to US film giant Miramax, which he said had a backlog of films waiting for release.

Everyone’s gone! - submitted 21 October 2003
Our most recent productions Island at War, The Legend of the Tamworth Two and You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me have all finished filming on the Island. Island at War were on the Island filming for about two months and will continue shooting in the UK until December 2003. The Legend of the Tamworth Two were here for about 3 weeks but had to keep their pig unit here for longer than expected when the pigs wouldn’t do as they were told! Feature film You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me was here for 3 weeks.
We will update the site with dates and times of showings for the two TV productions once we have received them.
Prince Andrew visits set of Island at War - submitted 9 October 2003
Whilst HRH Prince Andrew was on the Island he made a trip to the set of Island at War which was based at Kentraugh House in Gansey. Whilst there, he also met the producer of the drama, John Rushton, along with MHKs Alex Downie, Leonard Singer and the Isle of Man Film Commission’s Hilary Dugdale and Nick Cain.
You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me- submitted 29 September 2003
Filming commenced on the latest movie to be made in conjunction with the Isle of Man Film Commission with a cast list including Dougray Scott, Emilia Fox, Jimi Mistry and Billie Piper.
Written by Patrick Wilde, the movie is based on Dutch film All Stars, which was adapted into a TV spin-off and went on to win the International Emmy in 2000. It is centred around a group of young people ‘trying to avoid adult life and responsibility’.
Award Nomination - submitted 23 September 2003
Actresses Helena Bonham Carter and Olivia Williams have both been nominated for Best Actress by the 2003 British Independent Film awards for their role in ‘The Heart of Me’ which was produced in conjunction with the Isle of Man Film Commission.
In addition to this, Romola Garai has been nominated as Most Promising Newcomer for the her role in ‘I Capture the Castle’, which was also produced in conjunction with the Isle of Man Film Commission.
Created in 1998, the British Independent Film Awards set out to celebrate merit and achievement in independently funded British filmmaking, to honour new talent, and to promote British films and filmmaking to a wider public. Last year, Manx film ‘The Lawless Heart’ was nominated for five awards, including best film and won one for best screenplay.
The British Independent Film Awards will take place on November 4th 2003 at Hammersmith Palais, Hammersmith, London.
Blackball at No. 5 - submitted 9 September 2003
Blackball entered the UK box office charts at number 5 in its opening weekend. It was beaten by Pirates of the Caribbean, American Pie : The Wedding, Jeepers Creepers 2 and Lara Croft : The Cradle of Life.
Trial and Retribution VII is ratings winner - submitted 8 September 2003
Night one of Trial and Retribution VII pulled in 7.56m viewers with a 35% audience share, winning the nights ratings. Night two also won the overnight ratings with 6.21m viewers and 29.14% audience share.
Blackball in cinemas - submitted 5 September 2003
Produced in conjunction with the Isle of Man Film Commission, Blackball is released to cinemas around the UK today. It was filmed in November 2002 and stars Johnny Vegas, Bernard Cribbins, Paul Kaye, Alice Evans, Imelda Staunton and Vince Vaughn. The comedy is based on an anarchic young bowls player.
Trial and Retribution VII Airs on ITV - submitted 1 September 2003
Presented in association with the Isle of Man Film Commission, this Lynda La Plante drama is to be aired on ITV in two parts, with the first showing tonight, and the second showing tomorrow night, both at 9pm.
