About Us

Welcome to the Employment Rights section of the Isle of Man DTI website. This part of the website is aimed at both employers and workers and provides information on employment legislation and good practice in the Isle of Man.

It is designed to be a reference point and to provide guidance on some of the main aspects of the employment relationship including the rules governing the employment of young people.

Employment Law Updates

The Employment Law Policy Unit distributes an electronic newsletter which contains information on developments in the Island's employment law, if you would like to subscribe please send your details to emplaw@gov.im. Past newsletters are available on the What's New Link.

Problems at Work?

Employment Services' Inspectors: complaints about certain aspects of the employment relationship, for example Work Permits, non payment of the Minimum Wage or a failure to issue a written statement of terms and conditions can be directed to the Employment Services Inspectors.

Manx Industrial Relations Service: the Manx Industrial Relations Service is an independent organisation funded by Government which provides a free and impartial service which aims to help employers and workers to resolve problems in the workplace.
