Employment Services Inspectorate
The Department’s Inspectorate Section carries out an investigative and advisory role with regard to:
The Control of Employment Act 1975 - Under which most newcomers to the Island should have Work Permits.
The Employment Agencies Act 1975 - Which provides that Employment Agencies, and Employment Businesses are licensed in the public interest.
The Employers Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1976 - Stipulates that all employers must have a minimum amount of Insurance for their staff.
The Employment Act 2006 - in respect of the requirement that:-
- All employees should have a written statement of terms and conditions of employment.
- All workers are entitled to an itemised wage statement.
The Minimum Wage Act 2001 - Whereby most individuals over a certain age are entitled to a level of pay no lower than the Minimum Wage.
